Learn Option Trading Fundamentals
If you want to learn option trading you will need to understand a few of the fundamentals. An option is a contract between two people agreeing to buy or sell a particular stock before a particular date (expiry date).
The first fundamental of learning option trading is the expiry date. All options have an expiry date at which point the options contract is finished. In the US it is always the third Friday of every month but in Australia it is the Fourth Thursday. This will change from country to country so you will need to know the expiry date. Depending on your strategy (whether it is long or short term) you will always need to be very aware of this date. If you plan to learn option trading then you will need to research the options rules of the market you plan to trade.
To learn option trading you will also need to research the size of contracts. This is very important as the bigger the contracts the more money for deposits you are required to provide. In Australia the contract size is 1000 shares but in the US it is 100 stocks per contract. Some countries will also have many stock options available where some countries have very few.
In my opinion the US market is better trade because there are more possible trades and you generally require less money for the deposit. This will also take you more time to find the trades as there is simply more of them.
